Consumers (8,400 survey participants) once again voted HiPP as the most sustainable company in Germany in 2013.
We are very grateful for the trust placed in us. The consumer vote also acts as motivation for HiPP to keep up its efforts to continue to guarantee the reliability and high quality of its organic products. Already in 2011 and 2012, HiPP was voted the most sustainable company in Germany in representative consumer surveys for the WirtschaftsWoche magazine.
Once again, in this image ranking in the WirtschaftsWoche in 2013, HiPP was chosen from 103 businesses from 17 sectors as clear winner. Second and third places went to household appliance manufacturer Miele and the drugstore chain dm. The last three places went to McDonald’s, and the clothing groups H&M and KIK. Overall, the study showed that consumers value commitment to the environment and social sectors just as much as the product itself.

On 5th November, EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy, honoured the Pfaffenhofen baby food manufacturer HiPP with the German Solar Prize 2011.
For HiPP, the Solar Prize confirms the company’s philosophy which has been practiced for many decades. The “ecologically-friendly manufacture of baby food” runs like a golden thread through the history of the company. HiPP is not only a pioneer in organic farming, it also already introduced EMAS- certified environmental management in 1995, and was the first food producer in Europe to do so. Through consistent and sustainable implementation, the company is continually saving energy and resources and, in Germany, now manufactures CO2-neutrally –despite doubling production. As climate change is closely associated with animals and plants becoming extinct, HiPP is also active in supporting the preservation of biodiversity.

This year’s prize winner, Claus Hipp, was already a pioneer in baby food production from strictly organic farming 30 years ago and, at that time, was already “thinking a courageous step ahead”, Lord Mayor Norbert Bude praised the honorary guest.
Claus Hipp stands not only for organic farming with his name, added the President of the Board of Trustees for the awarding ceremony of the Golden Flower, Dr. Gottfried Arnold, in his laudatory speech. “In the past years, he has reduced the CO2 emissions in his company by more than 90% and most of the energy comes from renewable resources. Water consumption sunk by about 40% per ton produced. Thanks to Claus Hipp, society has become ‘more ecological, more humane, more thoughtful’”, said the speaker.
